Laser Hair Removal & Reduction
What Does Laser Hair Removal/Reduction Treat?
Hair follicles have three phases – growing, dormant, and shedding. Hair reduction/removal is achieved by treating the follicle in the it's first phase, the growth phase, which helps stop new growth and production from that follicle.
How Does Laser Hair Removal/Reduction Work?
Hair reduction/removal requires multiple treatments to be successful. It is because, at any given time, we do not know which or how many follicles are in which phase. Depending on the treatment area, you may need anywhere from 4-6 treatments to get your desired result. Treatments occurs 4-8 weeks apart depending on the treatment area. This treatment is not effective for blonde, gray, or white hair.
Important Pre-Treatment Instructions for Laser Hair Removal & Reduction
- No tweezing, waxing, or other hair removal treatments prior to laser treatment. These treatments remove the hair from the follicle and so there must be hair in the follicle for laser treatment to work
- No tanning! This includes active sun exposure, tanning beds, selftanner, spray tanning, and tinted moisturizers. You must avoid these for AT LEAST 2 weeks prior to and after your laser treatments. It may be best to undergo laser hair removal/reduction during the months you have limited sun exposure (fall/winter) for this reason
- Shave 1 to 3 days before your treatment
- Avoid applying any lotion, sunscreen, perfume, or other cosmetics to the area the day of your treatment
