What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a treatment that removes built-up of dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. Treatment is performed with a handpiece with an exfoliating pad at the tip. Using the handpiece, the esthetician will go over the skin up to three times to remove the dead skin. New skin heals over smoother and brighter in the treated areas.
Who is a Good Candidate for Microdermabrasion?
All skin types can benefit from microdermabrasion, except those with very sensitive skin as the treatment may cause irritation.

What to Expect with Microdermabrasion Treatment
There is little to no downtime with microdermabrasion. Redness may occur, but should resolve by the end of the day. Skin may feel tight after treatment, but this should subside in 24-48 hours after treatment.
Important Treatment Information
- Do NOT exfoliate or use any exfoliating products for one week prior to treatment
- Avoid sun exposure for one week before and after treatment
- Apply moisturizer twice daily following treatment
Contraindications to Treatment
- Clients taking blood thinners are not good candidates to undergo microdermabrasion
- Treatments should be avoided if there are open lesions, wounds, or rashes on the skin
- Avoid treatment within two weeks of a chemical peel
