Success Story: Stem Cell Treatment Restores Movement
When Insurance Wouldn't Cover Back Surgery
Life prior to procedure
I was injured at work in 2018. With Workers Comp being involved, I saw multiple doctors who gave me multiple diagnoses - back sprain to two herniated discs. I had MRIs, X-rays, steroid injections, physical therapy, chiropractic care and nothing was helping for more than a few days. I was basically on bed rest for a year and a half. I gained weight. I could hardly move and if I did move I needed help to even stand up.
The doctor released me from his care stating there was nothing more he could do. I was at my wits end and about to give up hope when I went to see Dr. Hunter. He said back surgery was one of my final options to possibly get my life back to some extent. Even with a letter from a neurosurgeon saying that back surgery could help, my insurance declined coverage.
Other doctors would have just given up after being told no insurance coverage, but Dr. Hunter cares about his patients. He informed me of the possibility of using my own stems cells to repair the damaged disc in my lower back.
"To be honest I had all but given up on ever picking up my kids and having a normal life."
Situation today
The day after the non-surgical procedure, I stood up on my own. Within a week, I lifted my two year old up with my own strenght. Within a month, I was working. Within two months, I had lost 30 pounds and can walk over two and a half miles without needing to take a break.
I'm not back to 100% of myself after three months, but I have range of movement again. I can work out again. I can walk/run again. I can work again.
